LEREN is a laboratory created in 2019 by Order No. 872 dated October 1st, 2018 creating the Laboratory of Studies and Research in Digital Economy at ESGEN specialized in Studies and Research on the Digital Economy in general and in particular the Algerian case. The main objectives of the laboratory’s research work are:
- Enhance the potential impacts of the digital economy.
- Review the current state of the digital sector in Algeria, the many challenges facing Algeria and propose recommendations that could boost growth and create jobs.
The laboratory is made up of four research teams:
Team 1: DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY AND ECONOMIC GROWTH;
which aims to:

Events organized by the LEREN laboratory
A study day held on February 5th, 2020 “Digitization and Innovation, what challenges for the Algerian economy?”, was an opportunity to examine the current state of the digital sector as well as innovation practices in Algeria, the many challenges facing Algeria and propose recommendations that could boost growth and create jobs.
Raise awareness among all socio-economic actors about the challenges of the digital economy and digital innovation, which are a lever for growth and development.
“The company is digital” organized a single study day entitled “The use of remote learning in Algeria: State of play and perspectives” on June 17th, 2021. The choice of this theme came after the recourse of the majority of academic institutions to online teaching because of the Covid-19 crisis. So there is a strong match between this event and the initial objectives of the team which was mainly interested in the use of new technologies within Algerian organizations to ensure a prosperous digital transformation.
The purpose of this study day is to identify the contribution of digital transformation in higher education practices, to take stock of Algeria’s experience on E-Learning, particularly during theCodiv-19 period, and finally to propose recommendations to improve remote learning in Algeria.
A study day held on December 14th, 2021 on “Impact of the Covid-19 crisis on e-commerce in Algeria- Findings and Perspectives”, Starting from the spirit that “Men accept change only in necessity and they see necessity only in crisis”; The purpose of the study day was to answer the following question:
How has the health crisis impacted the evolution of e-commerce in Algeria?
The international symposium entitled “Economy of Digital Platforms – Opportunities and Challenges” organized by ESGEN and the LEREN laboratory on 27th and 28th of June 2022, was an opportunity for researchers and interested persons to address the need to exploit digital platforms in order to take advantage of the opportunities available in this field to contribute to the development of the national economy in the direct era.
